Making sure that your VR headset fits properly ensures that light doesn't bleed in from around the edges of the headset and also makes it more comfortable to use. So we're continuing our 12 days of VR with a guide on how to get the best fit for your headset, no matter which device you're using.

Gear VR

The Gear VR is one of the most simple headsets to fit correctly. It comes with straps that you can easily loosen or tighten while the headset is on your head. Your goal should be to have the device firmly on your face without it being too tight. and for it to not wobble when you move.

If you're wearing glasses it's important to make sure that you don't make the device so tight that your glasses press hard against your news. After your device is adjusted you can slide the focus knob on the top of the device to make sure everything is clear.

PlayStation VR

The PSVR headset has one button for tightening the strap you wear on your head and other for focusing the device. To get the right fit you should loosen the band all the way and place the headband on your head. Next, adjust the focus using the button on the lower right hand side of your device. After the device is on your head an in focus use the dial on the back of the headband to tighten the device.

The cable on the PSVR is on the left side of the device so if possible, it's worth having your processor unit on the left side of you.

Oculus Rift

The Oculus Rift has a more complicated set of straps to fit the device correctly. If you want to see photos you can follow the guide linked below. Here are the basic steps.

  1. Loosen the Velcro fasteners
  2. Pull the straps away from the display
  3. Flip the headphones up and away from the straps
  4. Place the device on your face, making sure glasses don't touch the screen if you're wearing glasses
  5. Pull the straps to the sides and back of your head
  6. Tighten the side straps simultaneously
  7. Tighten the top strap
  8. Flip the headphones over your ears

The goal is for the device to feel like it's being supported by the straps rather than your nose or cheeks.
