The original 3-in-1 cable that runs from the Vive head-mounted display and your PC is, as you've likely noticed, heavy and thick. HTC has recently made up upgrade to the cable, in that instead of a ribbon-style cable with three individual strands stuck together, there is a single cable that ends in the standard three connections. You can see the new cable in the video below.
Here's where you can find the new, thinner cable to replace the old one.
Buy the new cable directly from HTC
HTC sells replacement accessories for the Vive, including the 3-in-1 cable. Buying straight from the source will net you the new cable for about $40.
Exchange your damaged Vive cable
If your original cable happens to malfunction and your Vive is still under warranty, you can contact Vive customer support for a replacement. This replacement will be the newer, thinner 3-in-1 cable.

Buy a new Vive
Don't yet have a Vive? If you're planning on picking one up sometime in the future, you will receive the new 3-in-1 cable, as HTC will no longer ship the older cable. This holds true for new models only. If you buy a used model from a third-party vendor, don't expect to see the new cable.
