Oh, yeah, your phone has been ringing for the last half hour, and you have 26 text messages. Are they important? Maybe — maybe not. Want to get notifications in your Vive when your phone receives messages or other notifications? Here's how to pair your Android phone or iPhone with the HTC Vive.
How to pair your Android phone with the HTC Vive
Start with your Android phone:
- Launch the Play Store from your home screen or app drawer.
- Tap the search field.
Type HTC Vive.
- Tap the Search button. It looks like a magnifying glass.
- Tap the Vive app.
Tap Install.
- Tap Accept.
- Tap Open.
Tap Get Started.
- Tap Turn on Bluetooth.
- Tap OK.
Tap Yes.
You will now want to turn your attention to your PC:
- Launch the HTC Vive app from your desktop, taskbar, or Start menu.
- Click Settings.
Click Set up a Phone.
- Click Get Started. Your PC will now search for the phone.
Click the phone you're attempting to pair when it shows up in the list.
- Click Next.
Click Pair.
Turn your attention back to your phone:
- Tap OK on your phone.
Tap Done.
To disconnect your Android phone from your Vive, you can use either the PC app or the phone app.
Disconnect using your phone
- Launch the Vive app from your home screen or app drawer.
Tap Disconnect.
Disconnect or unpair using your PC
- Launch the Vive app from your Start menu, taskbar, or desktop.
- Click Settings.
- Click a pairing option beneath your phone:
- Disconnect: Temporarily disconnect your phone and Vive.
Unpair: Permanently unpair your phone and Vive. You will have to go through all the steps again to reconnect your phone.
How to pair your iPhone with the HTC Vive
Start with your iPhone:
- Launch the App Store from your Home screen or app drawer.
- Tap Search.
Tap the Search field.
- Type HTC Vive.
- Tap Search.
Tap Get.
- Tap Install.
- Tap Open.
Tap Get Started.
- Tap OK.
- Tap OK.
Tap the switch next to Bluetooth so that it turns on (green).
Turn your attention to your PC:
- Launch the HTC Vive app from your desktop, taskbar, or Start menu.
Click Settings.
- Click Set up a Phone.
Click Get Started. Your PC will now search for the phone.
- Click the phone you're attempting to pair when it shows up in the list.
Click Next.
- Click Pair.
Click Next.
Turn your attention to your phone:
- Press the Home button on your iPhone.
- Launch the HTC Vive app from your Home screen or app drawer.
- Tap Pair.
Tap Done.
