You're all ready to jump into your Oculus Rift — you pick up the remote, press a button, and nothing happens. You see that it is synced with your PC, but you still get no response. Time to change the battery!
How to replace the battery in your Oculus remote
Hold the Oculus remote upside down and so that the strap is facing away from you.
Slide the back cover away from you — toward the strap — with your thumb. If you have problems sliding the cover, find a grippy material to place between your thumb and the remote.
- Depress the battery release with your thumb.
Lightly tap the remote so that the battery falls out.
Insert the new battery first at the front of the remote.
Press down to clip the battery in place.
- Slider the cover back onto the remote.
Battery buying options
The Oculus remote takes a CR2032 battery. They are inexpensive and widely available. Here are a few buying options for your convenience!
Generic CR2032 10-pack
If you're ordering one, you might as well order 10! This pack is great for anyone who uses their Rift remote on a daily basis. These batteries will store for about three years.
Expect to pay only about $1.90 for all 10 batteries.
Energizer CR2032 4-pack
Want a name you can trust? Energizer has a 4-pack of batteries for about $5 — this is perfect if 10 seems like too many, or if you want brand-name batteries. These will store for about eight years.
