Echo Arena is one of the hottest multiplayer game out for Oculus Rift, and everyone who has it just wants to play more. Unfortunately, some are receiving an error when attempting to join game lobbies and others are having problems with their sound. Here's a fix for both problems!
How to avoid "Service Unavailable" errors in Echo Arena
If you played either version of the Echo Arena Beta, you no doubt still have the Beta downloaded on your PC.
The release version of Echo Arena actually requires you to jump back into the Store and download the full version of Echo Arena. If you attempt to launch the Beta version, you'll receive the Service Unavailable error.
It's a simple solution once you've read it, but it's not immediately apparent. Once you have the full version downloaded, you can remove the Beta by following these steps:
- Launch the Oculus app from your Start menu, desktop, or taskbar.
- Right-click Echo Arena Open Beta.
How to fix audio issues in Echo Arena
When you jump into Echo Arena, you might not be able to hear anything. This is a common issue that usually has something to do with how your playback is set up and how it works with the microphone in your Rift. Fix it by following these steps:
- Right-click the speaker button in your system tray.
- Click Playback devices.
Click Headphones (Rift Audio).
- Click Properties.
Click the Advanced tab.
- Click the dropdown menu in the Default Format field.
Click 2 channel, 16 bit, 44100 HZ (CD Quality).
- Click Apply.
